Our interns are always busy with fun projects like the ones listed here. Working in our office means you’ll be involved in a entertaining, creative work environment. Oh, and did we mention there’s no dress code?
|
| The following are 10 (of many!) projects that our interns could (should!) take and run with! |
PROJECT 1:
Pick a certain Humor Hotline you like and figure out how to get it in front of the people most likely to care about it. For example, if you’re in High School or college, you should be able to think of HUNDREDS of places to post something like this:
Ok, everyone in college (or high school!) needs to check this out! There's a website (www.MakeIt18.com) with a voting/polling Hotline (772-257-4488) that's examining the legal drinking age issue. The website gives some pretty good/rational/intelligent arguments for lowering the drinking age to 18 and the phone number (772-257-4488) allows people to vote on the issue (and promises to send the results to Congress after 1 Million votes are cast) |
PROJECT 2:
Search through the MANY internet sites/databases dedicated to popular/funny email forwards and see which ones could translate into audio-only HOTLINES.
Examples we’ve tried:
- The Psychiatric Hotline, The Human Resources Hotlines (no-brainers because they were “phone-based” to start with – and I’m sure there are others!)
- The Mind Reader Hotline (this one hasn’t worked great, but I think it’s more because it’s too long, doesn’t work all the time. Other emails - where it says “scroll down…” or “don’t cheat” where the idea is you’ll be amazed at the end – could work!
- The “Make It 18” Hotline. Email forwards have gone around (online petitions) encouraging people to “pass it on” to get something changed. |
PROJECT 3:
Post “RH Brands Internship” opportunities anywhere/everywhere (college internship boards for EVERY college, Craig’s List for EVERY city, myspace/facebook, anywhere/everywhere else where people might come across it. Each post serves the dual purpose of potentially getting interns as well as promoting a small list of some of our Humor Hotlines to a new audience! |
PROJECT 4:
Re-Post (anything relevant!) - our blog entries, our Humor Hotline blurbs, our internship opportunities, our videos, our list of numbers, etc. anywhere/everywhere. |
PROJECT 5:
Find and Respond! There are 1000’s of blogs that mention The Rejection Hotline (and likely our other concepts as well). There are hundreds of videos about some of our numbers. Each one of these is an opportunity to RESPOND to the poster (and all who read/view it). Either correcting false info, re-iterating that it’s funny and free to call, encouraging people to pass it on, letting people know “there’s a lot more where that came from”, etc. |
PROJECT 6:
Finding popular websites specifically related to the theme of one of our Humor Hotlines (so we can:
A) post blurbs about our Hotlines to the site’s visitors/readers and/or
B) to pitch a cross-promotional, revenue-share deal to the site owner.
[NOTE: We have LOTS of hotlines that only make sense in certain contexts or to certain people. We need to get the word out and post about certain hotlines (like the Rick Roll Hotline) on sites/boards/blogs about that content/idea (like YouGotRickRolled.com). |
PROJECT 7:
Finding content providers (likely video-creators and/or comedians) whose content might be funny as audio-only on dial-in lines (and pitching a revenue-share deal to them). |
PROJECT 8:
Create “Hotline-supporting material” Example: Prank and April Fool's web page:
[The April Fool’s Day and Prankster’s Assistant are examples of concepts that need web support to explain/show examples of uses (personal ads, classified ads, newspaper clippings, and other examples of how other people used the number) to encourage more creative use from others. The idea is to show that other people are already creatively using the number, to encourage other people to creatively use the number – Particularly in the context of “Helping you out with your April Fool’s Day pranks!”] |
PROJECT 9:
Pick a city, find the top 5 radio stations in that city (pop, rock, country, hip-hop, etc.). Find the website of the station. Contact all the personalities (DJ’s, show hosts) and producers about: The Rejection Hotline? All our Humor Hotlines? The Santa Hotline? Whatever else!
[Repeat above in a new city every day!] Save all contact email addresses so it’s easy to email them again (later on) when we have new stuff to let them know about. |
PROJECT 10:
Come up with a creative idea of your own to help us spread the word about our humor hotlines! |
